While the term can technically be applied to any screen that allows a user to interact with a device, HMI is most commonly used in the context of an industrial process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">HMIs are similar in some ways to Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) but they are not synonymous; GUIs are often leveraged within HMIs for visualization capabilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">In industrial settings, HMIs can be used to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Visually display data<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Track production time, trends, and tags<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Oversee KPIs<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Monitor machine inputs and outputs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"355\" height=\"262\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ca-tz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-197.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ca-tz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-197.png 355w, https:\/\/www.ca-tz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-197-300x221.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>HMIs communicate with&nbsp;Programmable Logic Controllers&nbsp;(PLCs) and input\/output sensors to get and display information for users to view.
